Diamond Head Hike | Kahana Bay | Malaekahana Beach | We Saw a Turtle! Day 3 in Oahu

Day three in Oahu had us up bright and early for the Diamond Head hike – and wow, what a way to start the morning! The trail was busier than we expected, but the panoramic views of Honolulu from the crater rim were absolutely worth the climb. Samantha kept stopping to take photos (classic!), while Amir was determined to reach the top without breaks. We definitely worked up an appetite!

After conquering Diamond Head, we drove to the quieter side of the island to explore Kahana Bay. The contrast was incredible – from the bustling tourist trail to this peaceful, almost hidden gem. We loved how locals were fishing with their families and kids were playing in the calm waters. It felt so authentic and removed from the typical tourist experience.

Our final stop was Malaekahana Beach, and this is where the magic happened. We were just walking along the shore, enjoying the soft sand between our toes, when Samantha suddenly grabbed Amir's arm and whispered, "Look!" A beautiful Hawaiian green sea turtle was gracefully swimming just a few feet from shore!

We stood there mesmerized, watching this gentle creature glide through the crystal-clear water. As a couple who's always been drawn to wildlife encounters during our travels, this moment felt extra special. There's something about sharing these unexpected discoveries together that makes them even more meaningful.

The turtle eventually swam away, but we stayed on that beach for hours, still buzzing with excitement.
