#SHORTS - When your Indian Husband doesn’t close the closet door
When your husband doesn’t close the closet door ______________________ #shorts #funny #joke #interracialcouple #indianinterracial
We've been together for five years now, and there are still some habits that make us scratch our heads at each other. Case in point: why does Amir never close the closet door?
It's not just our bedroom closet either - it's the coat closet, the linen closet, literally any closet door he opens stays wide open like it's inviting the whole neighborhood to peek inside. Meanwhile, I'm following behind him like some kind of door-closing fairy, gently pushing everything shut.
When I finally asked him about it, he just shrugged and said, "In our house growing up, we always left them open so air could circulate and prevent mustiness." Classic practical Punjabi logic that I honestly never would have thought of! My Vietnamese mom, on the other hand, was obsessed with keeping everything closed and tidy - "A place for everything and everything in its place," she'd say while straightening up behind us kids.
It's funny how these little cultural differences show up in the most random ways. We've learned that Amir's family prioritizes function (air circulation = good), while mine focuses on visual order (closed doors = clean look). Neither approach is wrong, but living together means finding our middle ground.
These days, we've reached a compromise: bedroom and main closets stay closed for aesthetics, but the basement storage and coat closets can stay open for his beloved air circulation.
What are the quirky habits your partner has that drive you just a tiny bit crazy? We'd love to hear we're not alone in this!
