We're absolutely thrilled to finally share a glimpse of our Maiyan ceremony with all of you! This beautiful Punjabi pre-wedding tradition was such a meaningful way to kick off our wedding celebrations, and honestly, we're still getting emotional watching this trailer.

For those unfamiliar with the Maiyan, it's an intimate ceremony where turmeric paste is applied to the bride and groom by close family members - a ritual meant to bless us and give our skin that gorgeous golden glow before the big day. As an interracial couple, we knew it was important to honor both of our cultures throughout our wedding festivities, and the Maiyan felt like the perfect way to welcome Samantha into Amir's Punjabi traditions.

Watching Samantha's family participate alongside Amir's was incredibly moving. Seeing her mom carefully apply the turmeric while Amir's aunties guided her through the process - there wasn't a dry eye in the room. These are the moments that remind us why cultural fusion in our relationship isn't just about food or festivals, but about creating new family bonds and shared memories.

The laughter, the tears, the beautiful yellow stains on everyone's clothes afterward - this ceremony captured everything we love about bringing our worlds together. Our videographer absolutely nailed the intimate, joyful energy of the day.

What traditions from your culture would you want to share with a partner from a different background? We'd love to hear your thoughts!
