We never thought a pandemic Valentine's Day could be so magical, but our weekend getaway to Niagara Falls completely blew us away! With travel restrictions keeping us close to home, we decided to explore our own backyard – and honestly, we couldn't have picked a better destination.

The winter mist from the falls created this ethereal, almost otherworldly atmosphere that felt perfectly romantic. We bundled up in our matching toques (yes, we're that couple now) and spent hours just watching the water cascade down, partially frozen in some spots. There's something humbling about standing next to one of the world's natural wonders – it puts everything into perspective.

Our cozy cabin rental became our little love nest for the weekend. We spent Valentine's morning making Vietnamese coffee and Punjabi chai, creating our own fusion breakfast tradition. The contrast of our cultures always adds such richness to these moments – Samantha's family would call it lãng mạn, while Amir's would say it was pure ishq.

The tourist areas were refreshingly quiet, giving us that intimate experience we craved. We took cheesy couple photos by the illuminated falls at night, shared poutine at a local spot, and even tried ice wine for the first time (surprisingly delicious!).

This trip reminded us that adventure doesn't always mean flying across oceans. Sometimes the most unforgettable experiences are right in our own province, waiting to be rediscovered.

What's your favorite romantic getaway spot in Canada? We'd love to hear your recommendations!
