We finally made it to Montreal! After months of planning our first proper getaway together since launching the blog, we're here for a long weekend exploring this gorgeous city that somehow feels both familiar and completely new to us.

Getting Here & First Impressions

The drive from Toronto was surprisingly smooth – about 5.5 hours with a coffee stop in Kingston. We decided to road trip instead of flying because honestly, we wanted the flexibility to bring way too many snacks and our good camera gear without worrying about baggage fees.

Montreal hit us immediately with its unique energy. Within minutes of parking downtown, we heard French, English, and what sounded like three other languages just walking one block. As an interracial couple, we always notice how comfortable a place feels, and Montreal's multicultural vibe put us at ease right away.

Day 1 Game Plan

We're staying in the Plateau area (highly recommend for first-timers!) and spent today just wandering and getting our bearings. Our must-dos for this trip include exploring Old Montreal, finding the best bagels (yes, we're doing the Montreal vs. Toronto bagel debate), and discovering some hidden gems beyond the typical tourist spots.

Quick Tip: Download the STM app before you arrive – Montreal's metro system is incredibly efficient and way easier to navigate than we expected.

The weather's been perfect for walking, and we're already planning our next visit before we've even finished this one!

What's your favorite Montreal neighborhood to explore? We'd love some local recommendations for tomorrow's adventures.
