We're sharing every moment of Day 4 of our Punta Cana babymoon — from slow beach mornings to sunset dinners — and everything we wish we'd known before traveling while pregnant.

Day 4: Our Punta Cana Babymoon

By the time Day 4 rolled around, we had fully surrendered to babymoon mode. And honestly? It felt incredible.

There's something that happens around the midpoint of a trip — the part where you stop feeling like a tourist trying to maximize every hour and you just... be. That was Day 4 for us. No packed itinerary. No rushing. Just Samantha, Amir, this growing little human between us, and the most impossibly turquoise water either of us had ever seen.

A Slow Morning (Finally)

We'll be honest — the first few days, we were still in Mississauga mode. Alarm-clock brain. That feeling like you should be doing something. But by Day 4, we had cracked the code of resort life, and the code was: do absolutely nothing until you feel ready.

Sam had been waking up a little earlier than usual (thanks, third trimester bladder), so she grabbed a coffee from the lobby and sat on our balcony watching the sunrise while Amir somehow slept through all of it like the man has never had a responsibility in his life. We love him anyway.

We made it to breakfast around 9 — which, in babymoon time, felt practically athletic. The resort's buffet had been a daily highlight, and Day 4 was no exception. Sam loaded up on fresh mango and watermelon (non-negotiable at this point in the pregnancy), and Amir went full Caribbean with eggs, plantains, and about three pastries he claimed were "just to try."

Beach Time, But Make It Mindful

We've done beach days before — Cancún, Cuba, a memorable long weekend in Miami — but there's something deeply different about doing it while pregnant. Everything slows down in the best way. You're not sprinting into the ocean to do something Instagram-worthy. You're just... sitting at the edge of the water, feet in the sand, feeling the sun on your skin, and thinking: we made a person and now we're here.

Sam found a shady spot under a palm umbrella (her new best friend for the whole trip), and we spent a good two hours just reading, people-watching, and talking about names. Yes, that conversation. Again. We still haven't landed on anything — you'll hear about it when we do.

Amir did eventually go for a swim while Sam cheered from her chair like a very supportive, very comfortable spectator. The water was warm and calm, and he said it felt like swimming in a giant bathtub. High praise from a man who grew up in landlocked Mississauga.

A Little Afternoon Nap (No Shame)

We went back to the room after lunch and napped for two hours. We're putting this in the blog post because we want every pregnant traveler to know: napping on vacation is not laziness. It is healing.

Sam's been carrying the physical load of this pregnancy like an absolute champion, and one of our goals for this trip was to let her rest without guilt. Mission accomplished. Amir napped too, because solidarity.

Sunset Dinner at the Specialty Restaurant

We'd made reservations at the resort's à la carte restaurant earlier in the week, and Day 4 was the night. We dressed up a little — Sam in a gorgeous flowy dress that she'd been saving for a special occasion, Amir in his linen shirt that he insists makes him look "like a man who owns a sailboat."

The food was genuinely beautiful. Grilled seafood, coconut rice, a warm bread basket that we did not leave untouched. They brought out a little dessert for us when Amir mentioned it was our babymoon — a small chocolate plate with "Congratulations" written in caramel — and Sam absolutely teared up. Pregnancy emotions are real and they are powerful and we are embracing all of them.

We sat there for almost two hours, just talking. About the baby, about our families back home, about how wild it is that we're going to be parents. The kind of conversation you don't always make time for in the middle of regular life, with work and errands and all the noise. This trip gave us that space, and we're so grateful.

Tips for Babymoon Travel in Punta Cana

If you're planning a babymoon or traveling while pregnant, here's what we learned by Day 4:

  • Book an all-inclusive. Not having to think about meals, logistics, or costs every single day is a gift when you're managing pregnancy energy levels.
  • Shade is your best friend. Request a shaded spot or bring your own. Sun hits differently when you're pregnant.
  • Eat when you're hungry, rest when you're tired. This trip taught us to actually listen to Sam's body instead of pushing through.
  • Pack snacks from home. Sam had a whole stash of her favourite crackers and granola bars. Non-negotiable.
  • Communicate with your resort. They genuinely want to help make your stay special — don't be shy about mentioning it's a babymoon.

Day 4 wasn't the most adventurous day of the trip. But it might have been our favourite. Sometimes the quiet days are the ones you carry with you the longest.

We can't wait for this little one to see the world with us someday. But for now, the Caribbean can stay our little secret. 🌴
