Day 7 - Wat Traimit | Bangkok Chinatown | centralwOrld Khela Meets Bangkok

Day seven in Bangkok brought us to one of the city's most fascinating cultural intersections. We started our morning at Wat Traimit, home to the incredible Golden Buddha statue. Standing before this 5.5-ton solid gold masterpiece, we couldn't help but marvel at its hidden history – discovered by accident when the plaster covering cracked during a move in the 1950s. Sometimes the most precious things are hidden in plain sight, something we've learned applies to travel too.

From there, we wandered into Bangkok's Chinatown, and Sam immediately felt a wave of nostalgia. The bustling streets, the mix of Thai and Chinese signage, and the incredible street food reminded her so much of Toronto's own Chinatown where we've spent countless date nights. It's amazing how certain places can feel like home even when you're thousands of miles away. We grabbed some of the best dim sum we've had outside of Canada and watched elderly men playing xiangqi in the shade.

Our day ended at centralwOrld, where we dove headfirst into Bangkok's modern shopping scene. The contrast from ancient temples to traditional markets to this gleaming mall really captures what we love about this city – it embraces both its heritage and its future without apology.

Walking through these different worlds in a single day reminded us why we travel together. Amir sees things through his lens, Sam through hers, and somehow we discover perspectives neither of us would have found alone.
