Khela Meets Canada | Banff National Park | A Vietnamese and Punjabi Couple

When we first started planning our trip to Banff National Park, we couldn't help but laugh at how different our packing approaches were. Amir immediately started researching the best hiking boots and thermal layers, while Sam was busy figuring out how to capture those iconic mountain reflections for the perfect Instagram shot.

But honestly? Banff completely blew us away in ways we never expected.

Standing together at Lake Louise, watching the turquoise waters mirror the snow-capped peaks, we felt this incredible sense of gratitude for calling Canada home. As an interracial couple, we've always found that travel brings out the best conversations between us – comparing how our families would react to these landscapes, sharing stories about mountains from our respective cultures.

Sam kept talking about how the misty mornings reminded her of Vietnamese mountain towns her grandmother described, while Amir couldn't stop drawing parallels to the Himalayas his parents would tell stories about. There's something magical about experiencing Canada's natural beauty through both our lenses.

The Icefields Parkway drive became our favorite part – we must have stopped every twenty minutes to take photos and just soak it all in. We realized that even though we've lived in Toronto our whole lives, we're still discovering what this incredible country has to offer.

Banff reminded us that home isn't just the city we grew up in – it's this entire beautiful, vast country we get to explore together.
