You know that moment when you're traveling and suddenly your Indian side just takes over? We've been there so many times, and honestly, it's become one of our favorite travel quirks to embrace.

Picture this: we're at a bustling market in Bangkok, and while Samantha's politely asking for prices, Amir's already deep into full-on haggling mode. Hand gestures flying, that familiar head wobble appearing, and suddenly he's speaking in a mix of English, Punjabi, and whatever local words he picked up five minutes ago. The vendor's laughing, we're getting a better deal, and Sam's just shaking her head with that "here we go again" smile.

The Indian side comes out when:

  • You automatically start bargaining at any market (even when prices are clearly fixed)
  • You're packing enough snacks for a week-long trip into your day bag
  • You insist on taking photos with literally every landmark, statue, and scenic viewpoint
  • You're asking every local about their family, their work, and their grandmother's health within the first conversation

As an interracial couple, we've learned that these cultural instincts aren't something to hide – they're travel superpowers! Amir's natural warmth and curiosity has opened so many doors and created incredible connections we never would have made otherwise.

The beauty is in letting these authentic parts of yourself shine through, no matter where you are in the world.

What's your "cultural side" that comes out when traveling? We'd love to hear your stories!
