#SHORTS - When your Vietnamese Wife doesn't want to work out

We thought we'd figured out the perfect solution to staying active while traveling through Vietnam – morning workouts together before exploring each city. Spoiler alert: we were very wrong.

Turns out, when you're visiting your wife's homeland, the last thing she wants to do is spend precious time in a hotel gym. Sam kept reminding me that we could work out anytime back in Toronto, but how often would we get to have proper pho for breakfast or wander through the floating markets of the Mekong Delta?

"Amir, you can do your push-ups when we get home," she'd say, already dressed and ready to hunt down the best banh mi in Saigon. And honestly? She had a point.

Watching Sam reconnect with her roots was incredible. She'd light up talking to vendors in Vietnamese, her confidence growing with each conversation. Meanwhile, I was worried about missing leg day. The contrast was pretty ridiculous when I think about it now.

We quickly learned that travel workouts in Vietnam meant walking 15,000+ steps daily through bustling markets, climbing temple stairs in the heat, and chasing down street food carts. By the end of each day, we were exhausted in the best possible way.

Sometimes the best fitness plan is just embracing where you are and letting the adventure be your gym. Plus, have you tried Vietnamese coffee? That's cardio enough right there.

Have you ever had to adjust your travel routines when visiting your partner's home country? We'd love to hear your stories!
