Switzerland Day 1 | Khela Meets World | Long Travels Ahead

We finally made it to Switzerland! After what felt like the longest travel day of our lives – two layovers, a delayed flight, and somehow managing to lose Sam's luggage somewhere between Toronto and Zurich – we're here and absolutely buzzing with excitement.

The journey started at 5 AM Toronto time, and by the time we collapsed into our hotel beds in Interlaken, we'd been awake for nearly 24 hours straight. Amir was surprisingly chipper throughout the whole ordeal (his Punjabi mom's travel snacks definitely helped), while Sam was running purely on Vietnamese iced coffee and determination by hour 18.

But honestly? The moment we stepped outside the train station and saw those towering Alpine peaks in the distance, every minute of exhaustion melted away. The air here is so crisp and clean – such a refreshing change from Toronto's summer humidity. We spent our first few hours just wandering the charming streets, trying to wrap our heads around the fact that we're actually here.

One thing that immediately struck us was how effortlessly multicultural Switzerland feels. As an interracial couple, we sometimes get curious glances when we travel, but here everyone seems wonderfully unfazed. Maybe it's the international nature of Swiss tourism, or maybe we're just too jet-lagged to notice!

Tomorrow we're planning our first proper Alpine adventure, but tonight we're savoring some incredible rösti and planning our next few days.
