Day 1: Our Punta Cana Babymoon Montage! 🏝️✨
Join us as we recap our first blissful day of babymooning in beautiful Punta Cana, Dominican Republic!
Hola, KhelaMeeters!
Samantha here! And Amir here! We're beyond thrilled to finally share the first installment of our babymoon adventure, and as you can see from the video title, we kicked things off in sunny Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! You can check out our full Day 1 montage here on YouTube, but today we wanted to dive a little deeper into the magic of that first day, share some behind-the-scenes thoughts, and, of course, sprinkle in a few tips for any of you planning your own babymoon escape!
Setting the scene: I'm currently in my second trimester, feeling pretty good (bye-bye, morning sickness, hello, energy!), but definitely starting to feel that bump grow and the urge to just… relax. Amir, bless his heart, has been a rockstar through it all, and we both knew we needed one last truly us trip before our family of two becomes a family of three (plus Khela, of course!). We debated a lot of destinations, but the promise of warm weather, beautiful beaches, and effortless relaxation pointed us straight to an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean. And let me tell you, Punta Cana did not disappoint!
Our first day was a whirlwind of travel, followed by pure, unadulterated bliss. The video montage really captures the energy, but what it doesn't show is the sheer relief we felt walking into our resort. After the early morning flight from Pearson, navigating suitcases, and the drive from the airport, seeing those vibrant turquoise waters and palm trees swaying in the breeze was like a collective sigh of contentment for both of us.
One of the big things we always consider when traveling, especially now, is food. Being pregnant, I’m extra mindful of what I eat, and Amir, well, he’s always mindful when it comes to food – if it’s delicious, it’s going in! We opted for a resort with multiple dining options, and our first meal was at one of the casual buffet restaurants. I was craving fresh fruit and something light, and they had an incredible spread. Amir, naturally, went for a bit of everything, and I distinctly remember him saying, "This plantain is perfect!" Which, coming from him, is high praise. We’re still waiting to try some authentic Dominican food, but for day one, the selection was a welcome start.
After settling in and grabbing that much-needed bite, it was straight to the beach! The walk from our room to the sand felt like stepping into a postcard. The sand was so soft, like powdered sugar, and the ocean… oh, the ocean! The bluest of blues, so warm and inviting. We spent a good hour just wading in the shallows, soaking up the sun, and talking about how incredible it felt to finally be there. There’s something undeniably therapeutic about the sound of waves, isn’t there? It truly calms the soul.
Babymoon Tip Alert! If you're pregnant, don't underestimate the power of a good sun hat and plenty of sunscreen! My skin is extra sensitive these days, and staying hydrated is key. Amir was on constant "water patrol" for me, making sure I kept sipping throughout the day. Also, comfy shoes for travel day are non-negotiable!
Later in the afternoon, we explored the resort a bit more. We found the main pool area, which was bustling but still felt expansive, and even spotted a quiet, adults-only section (which we definitely utilized later in the trip!). For me, the most important discovery was the ice cream shop. Yes, you heard that right. Pregnancy cravings are real, and that first scoop of mango ice cream was a little slice of heaven. Amir, ever the enabler, happily shared in the joy.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in incredible shades of orange and pink, we found a cozy spot on our balcony. We just sat there, watching the reflections on the water, holding hands, and talking about our hopes and dreams for our little one. It was a beautiful, quiet moment that really encapsulated what this babymoon is all about: connecting with each other before our world expands in the most wonderful way.
Day one in Punta Cana felt like a dream. From the moment we landed, we were embraced by the warmth of the Dominican Republic, both literally and figuratively. It was the perfect start to our last adventure as a duo, and we can’t wait to share more with you all in the upcoming videos and posts!
