Day 12 - Hanoi Adventures | Lost Our Passports | Streets of Hanoi | Khela Meets Vietnam

Well, Day 12 in Hanoi definitely didn't go according to plan! We woke up excited to explore more of Sam's heritage city, but our morning took a dramatic turn when we realized our passports were nowhere to be found. Cue the panic mode!

After retracing our steps from the night before (thank goodness for Sam's Vietnamese helping us communicate with locals), we discovered we'd left them at a small family-run restaurant in the Old Quarter. The owner had safely tucked them away, waiting for the "crazy tourists" to return. We've never been so relieved to see those little blue books!

Once we recovered from our mini heart attack, we spent the afternoon getting properly lost in Hanoi's incredible street maze. There's something magical about wandering these narrow alleys where motorbikes somehow weave between street food vendors and tiny plastic stools. Sam was in her element, translating stories from elderly bà selling fresh herbs, while Amir became obsessed with perfecting his pho-slurping technique.

The contrast between the bustling streets and peaceful temple courtyards reminded us why we fell in love with Vietnam. Every corner tells a story, and as an interracial couple, we love how this city embraces both tradition and change. Sam's been sharing childhood stories her grandmother told her about these very streets, making everything feel even more special.
