We can't believe we're already on day 13 of our Vietnam adventure, and Halong Bay has absolutely blown us away! Booking with Genesis Regal Cruises was honestly one of our best decisions this trip – the service has been incredible and the views? Chef's kiss.

This morning we explored the UNESCO World Heritage site by traditional bamboo boat, which was such a peaceful way to navigate between those iconic limestone karsts. Samantha was in her element photographing every angle, while Amir couldn't stop marveling at how the morning mist made everything look like a painting. There's something magical about experiencing these ancient waters the way locals have for generations.

The real highlight though? Squid fishing at sunset! We'll be honest – we were terrible at it (city kids, what can we say?), but our fellow travelers were so welcoming and patient, teaching us the ropes despite our complete lack of fishing experience. It reminded us why we love traveling as a couple from different backgrounds – everyone's curiosity and kindness transcends any cultural barriers.

Our Top Tips:

  • Book the 2-day cruise minimum – one day isn't enough to truly appreciate this place
  • Bring layers! The bay gets chilly in the evening
  • Don't stress if you're not catching anything while fishing – it's all about the experience
  • The bamboo boat excursion is worth every penny for those intimate moments with nature

Have you been to Halong Bay? We'd love to hear about your favorite moments or any hidden gems we should explore tomorrow!
