Day 14 - Halong Bay | Genesis Regal Cruises | UNESCO | Kayaking | Hair Salon | Khela Meets Vietnam

We woke up to the most breathtaking view we've ever experienced together – the limestone karsts of Halong Bay rising majestically from emerald waters. Our second day aboard the Genesis Regal Cruises felt like stepping into a dream, and we couldn't help but marvel at how this UNESCO World Heritage site has remained so pristine.

The morning kayaking adventure was absolutely magical. Paddling through hidden caves and secluded lagoons, we felt so small yet so connected to this ancient landscape. Amir kept joking that his Punjabi ancestors definitely didn't prepare him for this kind of water navigation, while Sam felt an unexpected emotional connection to these Vietnamese waters that her grandparents once called home.

One of the most delightful surprises was discovering there was a hair salon right on the cruise ship! After two weeks of travel hair struggles, Sam treated herself to a much-needed trim while chatting with the Vietnamese stylist about local beauty traditions. It was one of those spontaneous cultural exchanges that make travel so enriching.

As we sailed deeper into the bay, watching traditional fishing boats dot the horizon, we reflected on how this journey through Vietnam has been teaching us so much about heritage, natural beauty, and the stories that landscapes hold. The way the afternoon light danced across the water reminded us why we fell in love with exploring the world together.
