We woke up in Rome with butterflies in our stomachs – this was the day we'd been dreaming about since planning our EuroTrip! After fueling up with espresso and cornetti at a tiny café near our Airbnb, we set off to explore the Eternal City on foot.

Walking through Rome felt like stepping into a living museum. Every cobblestone seemed to whisper stories from centuries past. We found ourselves constantly stopping to take photos – Amir was fascinated by the ancient architecture while Samantha couldn't get enough of the charming side streets lined with colorful laundry hanging from weathered balconies.

The Trevi Fountain absolutely took our breath away. Even with the crowds (and wow, were there crowds!), standing before this baroque masterpiece felt magical. We each tossed a coin over our left shoulders with our right hands – apparently ensuring we'll return to Rome someday. As an interracial couple, we loved seeing people from every corner of the world sharing this same moment of wonder.

For lunch, we discovered La Canonica, a hidden gem tucked away from the tourist trail. The owner, Giuseppe, was incredibly welcoming and seemed genuinely curious about our backgrounds. Over plates of the most incredible cacio e pepe, we shared stories about Toronto's food scene while he told us about his family's restaurant traditions.

Rome has this incredible way of making you feel both humbled by its history and embraced by its warmth. Have you ever experienced a city that completely changed your perspective in just one day?
