EuroTrip Day 5 - Rome Adventures | Vatican Museum | Sistine Chapel | Capitoline Museum | Vittoriano

We woke up early on Day 5 knowing we had an ambitious itinerary ahead of us in Rome! Starting at the Vatican Museum was absolutely the right call - we arrived right when it opened and managed to beat most of the crowds. Pro tip: book your tickets online in advance because the lines can be absolutely brutal later in the day.

Walking through the Vatican's corridors felt surreal. As a couple from different cultural and religious backgrounds, we found ourselves having fascinating conversations about art, spirituality, and history. The Sistine Chapel left us both speechless - no amount of photos can prepare you for seeing Michelangelo's masterpiece in person. Just remember, no talking and definitely no photos inside!

After lunch, we headed to the Capitoline Museum, which honestly deserves way more attention than it gets. The views of the Roman Forum from there are incredible, and we loved seeing the original Marcus Aurelius statue. It's a nice break from the Vatican crowds too.

We ended our day climbing up the Vittoriano (that massive white monument you can't miss). Yes, it's touristy, but the 360-degree views of Rome at sunset were worth every step. Plus, the elevator ride to the top is surprisingly affordable!

Our biggest lesson learned: Rome in a day is exhausting but doable if you pace yourself and wear comfortable shoes. We definitely underestimated how much walking we'd do between sites.
