Amir's High School Parkour Flashback: 2006-2013 Adventures

Looking through old photos recently, we stumbled across some incredible shots of Amir's parkour days from high school. Seven years of jumping, climbing, and basically treating Toronto like one giant playground! Seeing these brought back so many memories and got us thinking about how those skills actually translate to our travels today.

Back then, Amir and his crew would spend hours at Harbourfront Centre and around U of T campus, perfecting their precision jumps and wall runs. What started as weekend fun with friends became this amazing way to see the city from completely different angles. "I learned to look at every environment as full of possibilities," Amir told us while flipping through the photos.

Fast forward to now, and we've realized how much those parkour fundamentals help during our adventures. Whether we're navigating crowded markets in Vietnam (thanks to Sam's family connections showing us the real local spots) or finding the best photo angles in unexpected places, that spatial awareness and confidence with movement is invaluable.

The coolest part? Parkour taught Amir to approach obstacles creatively rather than seeing them as barriers – something that's served us well when dealing with language differences, cultural misunderstandings, or those inevitable travel hiccups that come with exploring as an interracial couple in new places.
