After falling head over heels for Lagos in Part 1, we knew we had to share the practical side of exploring this stunning corner of the Algarve. Because let's be honest – those Instagram-worthy cliff shots don't happen by accident!

Getting Around Lagos

We found walking to be the best way to explore the old town, but for beach hopping, renting bikes was a game-changer. The coastal paths are mostly flat and offer incredible views. Pro tip: start early to beat both the crowds and the heat – something we learned the hard way after melting in 35°C weather!

Where to Stay

The historic center puts you walking distance from everything, though it can get lively at night. We loved staying near Meia Praia for a quieter vibe while still being close to the action. As an interracial couple, we felt completely welcome everywhere – Portugal's tourism industry is refreshingly inclusive.

Beach Strategy

Praia Dona Ana is gorgeous but tiny – arrive before 10am or after 4pm. Ponta da Piedade is unmissable for those dramatic rock formations, but wear proper shoes! The paths can be tricky. For a local feel, Praia da Batata right in town became our go-to spot for sunset drinks.

Food Finds

Skip the touristy seafront restaurants and head inland. We discovered the most incredible pastéis de nata at a tiny bakery locals frequent – sometimes the best experiences happen when you wander off the beaten path.

What's your Lagos must-do? We're always looking for hidden gems we might have missed!
